Uncovering a network of rat holes is hard work!
The “New Journalists” at MiniMoni would have you believe that they are a bunch of independent reporters who’ve been pulled together to uncover the unbiased, unvarnished “truth” in today’s political and social landscape.
In reality, they are nothing more than more puppets dangling from the fingers of uber lefty George Soros, who is spending money like water to blow smoke up the collective American rear end.
Over the past few months, several bloggers have put together bits and pieces of the network that sponsors the MiniMoni “New Journalists”. What we’ve come to see is that the one interconnecting thread that runs throughout is uber lefty George Soros.
I’m going to lay out this network, but hang tight; this crew is covered better than the money trail of a Colombian cartel.
Today, Minimoni’s head cheese Robin Marty proudly posted an article by Eric Alterman , a “Senior Fellow” at the Center for American Progress (which in turn rolled out Media Matters.org , which explains why Alterman has consolidated his blog “Altercation” with Media Matters).
Columnist Eric Alterman writes of Minnesota Monitor's role in the "marriage of the blogosphere and MSM" in The New, New, New Journalism which can be found at the Huffington Post. The story is nothing more than a puff piece, but it names the “originator” of the “New (new, new, new..remember it's new!) Journalist” project as David Bennahum.
Our trail starts there.
Bennahum’s bio ( http://www.bennahum.com/david/bio/index.html ) tells us that he is a Senior Fellow with Media Matters. Source watch goes further to explain that David S. Bennahum is "a Senior Fellow at Media Matters for America and assists in guiding online communications and technology strategy."
"Online strategy" is an excellent description indeed.
Bennahum’s front is called the “Center for Independent Media”, but as we see from Discover the Network.org, they are anything but independent:
“Officially launched in April 2006, CIM states that it grew out of “a four-month intensive research study conducted by a progressive not-for-profit media watchdog organization.” (An organization that fits this description perfectly is the George Soros- and Hillary Clinton-affiliated Media Matters, from which CIM rents office space in Washington, DC, but CIM does not identify the “watchdog” group by name.)”The group for which the author of the article Marty is crowing about (the Center for American Progress) is also (shock) a Soros front as Discover the Network again explains:
Quite a mess isn't it? That's deliberate my friends. But we're not done yet!Robert Dreyfuss reports in the March 1, 2004 edition of The Nation: "The idea for the Center began with discussions in 2002 between [Morton] Halperin and George Soros, the billionaire investor. … Halperin, who heads the office of Soros' Open Society Institute, brought [former Clinton chief of staff John] Podesta into the discussion, and beginning in late 2002 Halperin and Podesta circulated a series of papers to funders."
Soros and Halperin recruited Harold Ickes -- chief fundraiser and former deputy chief of staff for the Clinton White House -- to help organize the Center. It was launched on July 7, 2003 as the American Majority Institute. The name was changed to Center for American Progress (CAP) on September 1, 2003. The official purpose of the Center was to provide the left with something it supposedly lacked -- a think tank of its own.”
MiniMoni's "sister" site Coloradoconfidential.com, is spewed out of Colorado. Oh, yeah Soros is there too, but he's teamed up with a local boy. Check out the full story at To the Right.
MiniMoni’s Marty has been leaving comments on several blogs that would have you believe that CIM and Media Matters sharing of office space is nothing more than a happy coincidence (no, really); the first in a long string of deliberate lies by Marty to cover the trail.
Since then, the whole crew has repeatedly denied any ties to George Soros or any of his other front groups...it's all bullshit folks.
What we see here is that the “New Journalists” are simply engaging in the good old fashioned “yellow journalism” that MSM rags like the Star & Sickle have been churning out for decades. The only thing new here is the length to which these puppets of the left have gone to keep the source of their funding hidden.
What makes this story especially laughable, is the unbridled hypocrisy that Robin Marty showed when she had the gall to condemn Michael Brodkorb, the driving force behind Minnesota Democrats Exposed as a “paid blogger”. Brodkorb has stated many times that he receives not a penny for the grief he has wrought the DFL via his website, and do date there is not a shred of evidence to the contrary.
Marty will tell you that she is not paid by George Soros…and the fact is that the checks she and her fellow travelers receive in exchange for being obedient puppets prbably are not signed by Soros himself (how many times can these people redefine what the meaning of “is” is?). But there is no doubt that he is the source of the funds from upon which those checks are drawn…and the MiniMoni puppets know it.
But listen, here’s the important part.
If these dolts were in any way interested in the truth, how can they excuse themselves from the web of lies that their puppet masters have laid for them. If they are content to live a lie, and to look themselves in the mirror every day knowing that they will continue to perpetuate that lie…well, only another lefty could be gullible enough to believe a word they write.
As for me, I have one last word for the "New Journalists".
Dance puppets..dance!
UPDATE: For a sample of the kind of accuracy one might expect from a George Soros puppet, I offer this gem from Eric Alterman's piece:
So far, the results are real. Since the two sites [MiniMoni and Coloradoconfidential.com] went live in July (through October), CIM’s bloggers produced 2,200 news stories, appeared on radio and TV 30 times, and have been cited in the newspapers—either credited for a piece of news they broke orHuh. Let's look at those "real" results shall we? According to their site counters, "CIM’s bloggers" must get a lot of hits from elves who can erase any evidence of their visits...
mentioned—195 times. The blogs themselves have racked up 700,000 visits in that period. “When we look at ourselves in terms of fulfilling our social mission,” Bennahum said, “which is to use news to enhance public debate, we look at that 30 million number and we’re very happy.”
MiniMoney:
Total 89,336 Average Per Day 448
Coloradoconfidential:
Total 169,441 Average Per Day 736
Looks like the Soros twins are a few hundred thousand short of the advertised impact. Where the 30 Mil. number came from is anybody's guess.
UPDATE II: I don't speak "reality based" English....can anyone who came over here on "The Wedge's" dime tell me what the hell he's babbling about..or is everyone as baffled as I?

I guess that Minnesota Monitor and Alterman haven't heard the news; Journalism has earned a bad name for itself of late.
They can call it as "New, New, New, New" as they like and it's still a lying sack of shite.
Maybe they meant "peew, peew, peew, peew journalism"
Who cares? If you consider Horowitz's Discover the Networks as a legitimate research tool, then you're as far to the right as MiniMoni is to the left. And so what? More power to you; more power to them. Opinions are a lovely thing.
...As for me, I have one last word for the "New Journalists".
Dance puppets..dance!...
That's three words, sport.
Horowitz isn't isn't hiding his source of funding or holding himself out to be an objective "journalist".
I'm not sure how Center for American Progress and CIM are connected. Your post doesn't make that connection, and I don't see how "The group for which the author of the article Marty is crowing about (the Center for American Progress) is also (shock) a Soros front as Discover the Network."Is it guilt by association, or is there an actual connection linking funding to MinMon?
CAP begot MediaMatters which begot CIM which begot the "New Journalists" at MiniMoni and Coloradoconfidential.
George Soros' cash is the link behind all of these fronts.
Media Matters did not "beget" CIM. David was a fellow and left to start a new venture.
"the first in a long string of deliberate lies by Marty to cover the trail."
I assume you have more "deliberate lies" I have told in this long trail? I would love to hear them.
"But there is no doubt that he is the source of the funds from upon which those checks are drawn…"
Since there is no doubt, why is it so difficult for you to find any actual proof?
As for the Alterman article and the hits - honestly, that article was horribly written and fact checked. The orignial had CoCo and MinMon backwards, saying CoCo broke the "Backman" story and MinMon broke Haggard. And if you read it now, you will see that there are still sentences that aren't actually sentences, and Bachmann's first name is mispelled and she wasn't running for re-election.
And finally, Swiftee, I'm surprised at your laziness. If you want to know who funds us, you just need to google a little harder.

Let me know when part 2 is ready - I'm on pins and needles.
They all share the same office for cryin' out loud!
Keep spinning rew..keep spinning.
From your link:
"These outlets generally failed to credit Norris for finding this tidbit, but that doesn't matter to David Bennahum, the president and CEO of the Center for Independent Media (CIM), a Washington, D.C., organization that backs Colorado Confidential and a sister site, Minnesota Monitor."
I think that is what I just said!
I have no doubt that there are plenty of lefty contributors pouring cash into your coffers..but the one constant in this equation is George Soros.
And the point isn't necessarily which lefty is funding this scharade; journalists do not take money from politically partisan sources and then pass themselves off as objective.
That would be a LIE!
Part II is coming up shortly.
BTW..
"As for the Alterman article and the hits - honestly, that article was horribly written and fact checked."
pfft. He must not have gone through the "New Journalist" school of reporting eh?
Better let Soros know.
Sheesh, Give it up already!
The determination to deny the organization behind them tells us a lot about this new media group.
Here's a hint "rew": Your daisy chain is showing.
I am available to provide comments in support of George Soros's 502C organizations for $1 a word.
I concur, Swiftee. People with left-leaning tendencies should NOT be allowed a forum on the internet, nor should they--ever--be paid to write.
That is my decree.
Hey Anony-mouse, your strawman is on fire.
I may believe that lefties shouldn't be allowed in public without a leash, much less any forum, but that's not the point I make here.
These people are bought and paid for by a group of wealthy lefty partisans to write lefty BS, but they don't say that.
They are trying (and failing miserably) to pass themselves off as an acceptable, objective alternative to the MSM.
They ain't.
And it sure looks like they don't mind lying about it either.
Either that or they are pretty dumb.
If one is to give you any credibility at all, help me reconcile this:
"Brodkorb has stated many times that he receives not a penny for the grief he has wrought the DFL via his website, and do date there is not a shred of evidence to the contrary."
Which we know to be completely disingenuous. The Public Finance disclosure statements are quite clear on how well he was paid to blog, and how is 'consultant' title was specifically geared towards pushing his own stories to the media, which then followed GOP and Kennedy Press Conferences quoting his paid work at MDE almost verbatim.
The evidence that MDE was a paid political operative, compensated quite well to blog all through business hours, is far stronger than a series of coincidences RE: Soros. You can't push one meme without accepting the other.
For me it is real simple. Both entities are paid to do what they do. One fully discloses and professionally acknolowedged it from the outset, one refuses to come clean and uses those around him to perpetuate the innacuracy. Seems with MDE one lies and the rest of you swear to it.
Nice try, Swiftee, and thanks for playing . . .
Flash
Never received a cent
Brodkorb disclosed right up front that he was on Kennedy's campaign..every single time he mentioned Kennedy he posted a disclaimer.
But more importantly, Brodkorb NEVER tried to pass himself off as an unbiased, objective "journalist"...what part of "Minnesota Democrats Exposed" do you not understand?
Is it a "series of coincidences" that David Bennahum gets his coffee from the same pot as Soros's MediaMatters crew every morning?
Hell, they probably share a desk!
The MiniMoni puppets are bought and paid for employees of George Soros Inc. Period...end of story.
As a condition of employment, they are writing within the confines of a set of rules that they had to sign a document agreeing to abide by.
They do not own the words they write or the website they are published on.
They are tools. And cheap ones at that.
But if you enjoy the sound of their BS echoing off the walls of your ass who am I to tell you differently.
I got no dog in this fight, but I don't like to be misled. If Minnesota Monitor has an agenda and it looks like they do they should be upfront about it.
Thats all I have to say.
I love the sudden wingnut love affair with transparency. Not your usual turf, you must agree (Swift Boat Veterans for Truth ring a bell?).
Nonetheless, Swiftee's pixelated pukeage doesn't amount to "deception." The only links Swiftee's established between Media Matters and Minnesota Monitor are circumstantial. The leap in logic is that George Soros is funding Media Matters because David Bennehum once was a fellow at Media Matters. Huh? I used to work at Target; are they now bankrolling my endeavors at Wells Fargo?
Set aside your partisan heavy breathing for a minute and examine what Swiftee has presented. It really doesn't logically add up to a leftwing plot to deceive.
Then there's that issue of the product: Swiftee's constant references to the "puppets" at Minnesota Monitor should suggest he's not so credible. At least Minnesota Monitor is trying to do their work without resorting to such easy tactics.
I.Scooter
P.S. Every time Swiftee says "sock puppet," I get to drink a beer!
Circumstantial evidence is evidence.
Furthermore scooter, you're argument that we should discount the evidence is based on nothing more than your opinion.
Do you stock shelves with Target merchandise at Wells Fargo? If not, your analogy is moot.
Bennehum's activities with the Center for Independant Media seems to fit his MediaMatters job description "assists in guiding online communications and technology strategy" to a T.
Hey Scoot, don't wait on me brother. All that denial has got to have you parched by now.
Have a beer..hell have ten.
Anon,
"Dance, puppets, dance" is two words, one is repeated.
"New, new, new, new" is one word repeated ad nausum.
N-a-u-s-e-u-m, fuckhead. Jesus, you people are morons.
New, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new, new!
The irony (i-r-o-n-y) contained within the last two posts is near overwhelming
Who's "the wedge"? How about a link?
36 site visits at Pair O' Dice today; average visits per day: 87. First thought: Swiftee leaves comments anonymously to stir things up (and give himself a wee hardon). Second thought: by whatever math, the CIM folks are kicking your ass in terms of growing an audience and making an impact.

Then, by whatever math, any of the NARN blogs picks more hits out of their morning stool than the CIM blogs get in a day.
