Outstate voters receive their first DFL slap in the face
Without so much as a second thought, they've elected two of Minneapolis's most committed lefties to lead the Senate and House majority.
Margaret Anderson Kelliher and Larry Pogemiller share more than just their wild eyed liberalism. Both are loud and abrasive, and both take special pleasure in letting everyone, Democrat and Republican alike know that they have every bit of information they will ever need to make any decision already stored in their superior brains.
In short, they are just what the doctor ordered for the ailing GOP's recovery.
Look for both to start wringing Minnesotan's out for every penny they think they can get..that's a given, and Minnesota businesses are in for a very rough couple of years..."Minnesota nice without the Minnesota price" is going to become more than just an ad campaign.
Look also for the end of any sort of accountability to accompany a blizzard of cash heading into the coffers of Education Minnesota; indeed kids stuck in the public schools may well be the biggest losers of this election.
But it's not only the issues that will take the shine off the DFL's new paint job for Minnesotans. It is the acerbic tone with which the various fleecings and restrictions will be communicated to the public.
Pogemiller holds a black-belt in lefty political arts. He firmly believes that he is the Senate majority leader because he's smarter than you and I, he's just a better human being all around and we're lucky to have him to run our lives for us. He has transcended pandering and headed straight into condescension.
We're talking about STFU and hand it over sucker caliber fiscal management.
Outstate and surburban voters were key to the DFL's success last Tuesday, and they are already seeing that a DFL controlled legislature means a Minneapolis controlled legislature.
I cannot even begin to guess what the voters in Anoka were thinking as they watched Anderson Kelliher, the new screecher of the House, waving her sign in their faces on the steps of the capital on Thursday but I'm going to guess that Phil Krinkie was laughing his ass off.
The bright spot in all of this is that Pogemiller hates Tim Pawlenty, and Tim isn't very enamoured with Pogo either. I'm hoping that animosity will help Pawlenty hold the line against what is sure to be two years of unmitigated lefty lunacy at the Minnesota state capitol.
Given the choices the MN GOP is making, we're going to need him to step up to the plate.
